Puds, bugs and flowers

Some photos I've taken this week:

We went for a walk up by the lakes behind the house one morning. Everything seemed to be flowering.

There are many different types of orchid in Asturias - these seem to be the most common.

Wonderful, large dog daisies.

We get lots of foxgloves around here too. Something I very rarely saw in the British countryside.

The lakes were covered with a mist that was blowing down the valley. If you watched for long enough, it seemed that it was the mountain moving, not the mist.

The mist cleared later and the horses appeared for a drink, as if they'd been waiting for that exact moment.

On the way back we stopped to give some dandelion leaves to the neighbours young hens.

Back home, our roses are flowering.

Beetles are common round here too - big ones - this is about medium-sized by our standards.

And finally, two very good friends dozing on the terrace.

Greetings Elbi, Flowers and Mahou. Your Mum's friend K has been here this weekend, and I was actually banned from the room where she was sleeping, JUST because she is allergic to me.

What lovely photos again. I love the misty one in particular and also the ones with the horses. Is the first blue flower a periwinkle?

Tortoiseshell asked me to do a blog about the weekend but I don't think I will have time as we are off on scarey sailing trip on Tuesday. Anyway, I'll do my best.

Hi Raelha,
wha pretty photos! Are the horses wild or broken? They look lovely. The cats too. Plumpy had a couple of things to say about their 'fine bodies' but I wouldn't let him put it in the comments ;-)

Great shots Rachel. Thanks for the tour.

Scardey, K might be visitng here too this wekend and Elbi, Beeps and Mahou will have to be banned too - don't take it personally.

Did you get lots of strokes from Tortoiseshell?

ltl, hmm, yes I think it is a periwinkle (although I'm not very good with flowers, I've been getting better since I've been here.)

A 'scarey' sailing trip?! No, no, no, it's an exciting adventure. Would you like me to go instead?

Oopos, Scaredy, I meant to say K might be visiting this summer, not this weekend.

jls, the horses are broken - they all have bells on them.

You do find the 'Asturcon' wild around here - which is an Asturian breed. It's a short and extra-hairy horse.

Thank Plumpy for the 'fine bodies' comment, I have passed it on. I think my girls were secretly pleased although Mahou did say that of course they had fine bodies and what did he expect. And Elbi wanted to say that if Plumy is ever in these parts he's welcome for a snuggle on the terrace.

Ah ha!
I have finally wrestled the computer from Mum. Your kitties are just lovely and I swear if I am ever in the neighbourhood I shall be sure to come visit. If Mum lets me of course - she takes delight in ruining most good things in my life.

I like the look of that beetle too, are they much fun to play with over there?

I won the French Open!

PS just blogged about a trip to see Lorenzo...

Plumpy, I'm afraid the beetles are rather boring - most tofthem are to slow to make chasing any fun and the shell is much too hard to crunch. But you can come and try the crickets if you like.

Tortoiseshell, well done - it was about time! But just you wait, I'm scheming for Wimbledon already, I need at least one title to my name this year.

Mum just rang the travel people and cancelled my tickets. She said cats aren't allowed to travel without their parents. I think she's just jealous.

So I'm sorry I guess I can't come visit after all. Maybe you and the girls could visit me?

Plumpy, I'm sorry, but maybe it's for the best. Plane travel and cats don't mix very well -I've seen the results. You'll just have admire my cats from afar - they're more than willing to send more pictures for you.

Raelha, Mum has just pointed out the link you have from your blog to mine, and I have to say I'm rather flattered. (Though not surprised).

I guess this travel lark is for the best, I don't even like travelling in cars, and I'd have to be in one for ages just to get to the plane. Mum thinks planes are cool and that should have sent warning bells a-ringing!
