I've been avoiding mentionning football on my blog, mostly due to the parlous situation that Leeds United have been in for, well, too long than I care to remember.
However, I did get very excited yesterday upon discovering that one of my students, who's a defender in the Real Oviedo youth squad, has been approached by Liverpool. I'm afraid to say I'm short on details, but you heard it here first.

Surely you are a Macclesfield Silkmen supporter?
'Fraid not - my interest in football started when I was at Uni in York and Leeds were keeping Man United (never my favourite team)off the top of the Premiereship.
I did cheer the Silkmen on when they were playing West Ham in the FA cup in 2002, though it was very strange to watch them on telly.
I agree the Silkmen are rubbish. I'm not into footy at all. Can't see what all the fuss is about.

How can you be so desparaging of your local side?
Given the size of their financial resources, and the proximity of the big clubs in north west England, it's a minor miracle that Macclesfield have a league team at all.
I keep meanning to do a tennis post but just haven't had the time (as always).
