What does a girl do on a rainy day? Well, she sorts out her onions, of course.
It was a poor crop this year due to all the spring/early-summer rain. Anything I couldn't string up went in a jar with some red wine vinegar (you can't get the malted stuff out here), dried chillies and peppercorns. Now we just have a three month wait until we can enjoy them. I shall have to keep an eye on Matt as I know he's liable to sneak a few earlier to go on his cheese butties, especially now we know where to get hold of a good cheddar.

Those pickled onions will make a good mouthfull! Don't forget to breath heavily on all your foes after eating them!
Lorenzo.
Owww...they look lovely. I must try that myself!
LtL, good idea. Should Maalie ever come near my cats I shall crunch on a mouthful and then breath heavily in his direction. This should confound him enough to give the cats opportunity to get in there and give him a good scratch before they run and hide. Perfect! Maybe I should let Plumpy and jls know about this plan.
Melody, it's very easy to do, give it a try.
Actually Maalie is likely to steel your pickled onion and then he will see to the cats!
I think Father Ann is on a hiding to nothing with the good folk of Macclesfield!
Lorenzo.
Hi Raelha,
Sorry I;'ve been negleting ur blog of late. I have it on RSS feed no so I have no excuse.
I'm afraind non-indicators are a real scourge over here as well. I'm sure that drivers have become less tolerant in the last couple of years.
You'll probably be aware that Leeds have cut the deficit to minus nine points. Only 3 more wins and they can start the season...
Oh yum, picled onions. You're inspiring me to make some... right now! Well, maybe next week....
Hi Tortoishell, yes, I know, only nine points to go and hopefully just three matches, bah!
Hi Raelha!
Plumps and I have been sitting on the couch together trying to catch up on everyone's blogs. Unfortunately LtL has so many that we will have to come back another day!
Plumps is still in love with all your girls and I am still in love with the scenery you post.
I like the look of your front door - it wouldn't work at my home, the wind would surely blow it all in!
As to the onions - I think a trail of them (like the stones for hansel and gretel) might distract Maalie long enough for the cats to take care of themselves. I am not fond of onion myself so I don't think I'd use the trick. Garlic maybe, but then Maalie might feel as though he was being accused of vampirism. :-)
Hi jls, good to see you´ve recovered too. Yes, catching up with Lorenzo will be difficult - so many comments!
Plumpy must be feeling better if he´s swooning over the ladies again.
I´ll keep the onion trail in mind should Maalie ever threaten to visit Asturias - if I can stop Matt from eating them all that is.
